About the Department

The Department of Agricultural Economics came into existence after the establishment of College of Agriculture during 1990.

Brief History of the degree programme:

Objectives of Initiating M.Sc. ProgrammeThe M.Sc. programme was initiated with the prime objectives and the focused areas are 1. To produce quality and specialized human resource in the areas related agricultural economics such as production economics, agricultural finance, farm management economics, agricultural marketing, market integration and price analysis, natural resource economics, economic issues related to climate change. 2. To undertake need based research studies on various issues related to socio-economic aspects of agriculture sector both micro and macro levels. 3. To develop the analytical skills in respect of quantitative and qualitative tools of analysis in economics for handling data base.
Accomplishments of Programmes41 students have completed M.sc. from inception and during the period 2001-2021, 5 have completed Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics .and remaining students are joined in Public and private sectors.
